Meet Your Instructors
Owner & Instructor
With over 40 years of playing and instructing experience Rob (Cro) has set his sights on developing a facility where kids of all ages can learn to play and enjoy the game of hockey. His 25 year playing career started in the Brantford Minor Hockey Association, took him to the OHL Belleville Bulls for 3 years, followed by 4 Provincial Championships and 3 National Championships with the York Yeomen University Team. A proficient skater and team captain at all levels, Rob was often labeled as the unsung hero of his team earning several MVP and top performer awards along the way.
After graduating from University Rob followed his dream to work with children. With employment at the Boys and Girls Club of Brantford, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and finally Brantford Minor Hockey, Rob has gained the skills necessary to effectively to work productively with children on and off the ice.
Learn to Skate & Learn to Play Instructor
A familiar face around the local arenas for almost 30 years, John Harker has done it all when it comes to hockey. A player, a coach, a convener, an executive member, and a fan of the game, John continues to volunteer his time instructing our youngest players.
As one of the founders of the Learn to Skate Programs at both Brantford Minor and Brantford Church Hockey Associations, John has led these initiation programs for the past 10 years. His unique ability to encourage a young child to overcome their fear of stepping onto the ice is truly a gift. From these first moments and throughout the learn to skate process, it’s nothing but smiles and it is for this reason Cro’s Ice Nest is thrilled to have John as a member of their team.
Elite Training & Skill Development Instructor

Parker's Keepers Instructor
A graduate of Brantford Minor Hockey and former rep team goaltender, Matt has mastered the art of training goalies. His ability to evaluate a goalies strength and weaknesses and develop training methods to make them the best goalie possible are outstanding. The goalies he trains respond very well to his guidance and his constant chatter on the ice pushes them to give it their best effort and skate off the ice with a mask full of sweat and a smile filled with confidence.
On Point Goaltending
On Point Goaltending is run by Kevin Dawdy. Once a rep goalie in the Brantford Minor Hockey Association, Kevin now enjoys passing his love of the sport onto new and aspiring young goaltenders.
Kevin originally started out in the summer of 2015 as part of the Ontario Summer Company program and has been growing steadily ever since. He offers Private, Semi-Private, and camp/clinic services as well as team services. He also gives each goaltender that does 1-on-1 training personalized video analysis. Be sure to check out his YouTube page for short on-ice educational videos and his Facebook and Instagram to keep up with what he’s up to.
Player Instructor - Trainer
Starting hockey late at the age of 14, Ben played 4 seasons for his local minor hockey club, Solent & Gosport Ice Hockey Club, Under 16’s and Under 18’s. Following the completion of his schooling, Ben decided he wanted to continue to pursue his hockey career outside of the U.K.
For the 2014-15 season Ben moved to Canada, where he played for the Niagara Whalers (Jr.A) and the following season for the Almaguin Spartans (Jr.A), where he was part of a successful North Conference championship team.
In his final year of eligibility for junior hockey, Ben stepped away from competitive hockey. This is when Ben discovered the Cro’s Ice Nest, which is now where he trains. As well as training, Ben coaches a range of ages and abilities, from learning to skate to AAA hockey players.
Ben will be around for the summer of 2017, before he heads back to Europe to continue his playing career for the 2017-18 season.
